In 2018 Integrative Peptides premiered the first and still only REAL BPC-157 supplement, BPC-157 Pure™. BPC-157 Pure™ is a capsule with 500mcg of BPC per capsule, and comes in bottles with 60 capsules each.
Bringing this product to market has been a labor of love and also a work of refinement. Although our time as a company has been short, we already have a product history! Our first production run of BPC-157 Pure™ capsules was slightly different than today’s version.
Our first production run, (as always, made in the USA), contained Magnesium Stearate. Magnesium Stearate is a natural excipient that speeds up production, saving money in the process. It is found across the board in many supplements. It is considered safe and non-allergenic by the medical community at large (read article here), and in fact, if you have indulged in foods cooked in coconut or palm oil or eaten chocolate confectioneries you have likely ingested magnesium stearate. And if you have ever taken a prescription drug, over the counter medicine, or supplement in capsule of tablet form, the chances of you having ingested magnesium stearate are almost certain.
But we all the know the story of medicine is one where things once considered safe all of a sudden become quite the opposite. Our customers, in particular, our Naturopath and Integrative physicians, who are at the forefront of raising concerns about product ingredients, asked us for a version without Magnesium Stearate, due to the phenomenon of Magnesium Stearate sensitivity and also concerns about overexposure if someone is taking many supplements all containing magnesium stearate.
Actions speak louder than words. It would have been much easier to point to literature showing lack of concern, brush off customer input, and carry on business as usual. At Integrative Peptides we value our customer input, and we went to the drawing board to see what we could do. After a thorough analysis with our manufacturing team, we came to the conclusion that we could change our manufacturing process and remove the magnesium stearate. It would slow down our production process, we would incur extra costs, but if it meant that we could help out our customers, we were willing to do it. We even made the decision to absorb the cost ourselves, because we didn’t want to upset those who didn’t care one way or another about magnesium stearate and would object to a price increase.
